An access log includes a record of all files that have been requested by the visitors while browsing your site. The list is detailed, so in case you have a page with two embedded images, for instance, all of the three files shall be in the log, not just the page. An access log usually features the date, the OS, the web browser and the IP address for each file in human-readable form, so you can get an idea about the hottest files on your site. The log, that is also commonly called "raw data", is an addition to the web statistics which you normally get with a hosting account, not a substitute. One example why you might need this type of a log is if you intend to use some software on your personal computer to prepare a report about the website’s performance, but you don't want to use the typical graphs and tables that come with the server-generated website stats.

Access Log Manager in Website Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As soon as you sign in to your website hosting account and navigate to this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you'll see a download link and also the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and examine it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you don't need one, you may stop it with simply a mouse click from the exact same section of the Control Panel. You will still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our state-of-the-art hosting platform will create access logs for every website hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this function is activated. All domains and subdomains that you have shall be listed inside the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, that we provide with all of the accounts, so if you need our system to start producing logs for each of them, you should just click on the little button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You could deactivate this function whenever you want by following the very same steps. You'll find a Download link for each log inside the same exact section of the Control Panel, so you will be able to save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with simply a mouse click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the feature has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to view the data which has already been generated.
