Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is used to stop the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one email address, but to appear as being sent from a different, ordinarily with the purpose to scam the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, an exclusive record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers worldwide have it. The record includes all the email servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and if its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the message will not be sent and it'll be removed. When you use this solution, it will stop third parties from sending spam messages that seem to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

You'll be able to activate the SPF protection service for your domain names with just a couple of clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all our website hosting. This is done via the section with the same name and you are able to allow the protection for any domain hosted on our modern cloud platform. Using a very user-friendly interface, all you'll need to submit is the hostname of the mail server which will be accredited to send messages from your email addresses and its IPv4 or IPv6 address. Of course, you can add several servers as well, if needed. If your email addresses are handled by us, you can also take advantage of an even more risk-free option by putting a restriction that emails can be sent only when your domain names have our MX records. This option can't be used in case your web site is hosted here, but the e-mail addresses are with some third-party service provider. In either case, the SPF protection solution can strongly improve your online security and stop other people from counterfeiting your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to protect your emails by activating the SPF security service for any domain hosted in the account with just a few clicks. This is done in the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even in case you have no previous practical experience with these things, you won't have any difficulties to enable the protection. All that you'll have to do will be to find a domain name from a drop-down list and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. The moment the new record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be delivered around the world only if they're sent from that particular server. If your emails are taken care of by us and not by some third-party supplier, you will also be able to activate an option for email messages to be sent only when the domain name includes our MX records and the latter is the safest option. If you have any questions about thisfeature, you'll be able to contact our tech support team 24/7.
